Lugi's Seat
“Luigi's Seat”
6" x 6"
oil on cradled panel
Part of my Take a Seat series, depicting chairs in isolation that invite you to sit. This idea of taking a seat is inspired by my meditation practice in which teachers often use that phrase to transition into meditation. Intrigued by a vintage chair I found on a local shop's page, I discovered this seat was designed for Cimon in Montreal by Luigi Tiengo, a mid-century figure. I was taken by the bold curves and combination of hard and soft edges - much like the Womb Chair I often depict. The background is a sphere that might have many interpretations - halo, moon, pearl.
This painting is headed to a show, "Boldy Taking up Space: Southeast Scope" in Tennessee in May. For interest in purchasing please contact me. https://www.traillworks.com/exhibits--events.html
