With now over two decades of teaching experience, both privately and in public schools, teaching artist, Jennie Traill Schaeffer, will help you learn to see, handle materials, then create a variety of representational, conceptual and imaginative work. She specializes in growing both technique and a vision for all levels, as well as portfolio development. Whether a beginner, an experienced amateur or someone looking to develop a portfolio, Jennie offers art coaching opportunities that push your perception, technique and vision.
If you're looking for a teacher to seriously nurture your artistic pursuits, or a guide to offer your group a remarkable art education experience, you've found the right one. Curriculum & Approach:Though not limited to drawing, emphasis is placed on drawing as a foundation for all artistic endeavors, with consideration of each student's personal vision and goals. While children will be taught a more general curriculum with a broad exposure to many different media, themes, styles, and approaches, teen and adult study will be more narrowly focused on an individual basis. Students considering art school in the future can work independently with Schaeffer on developing and refining their portfolio. Adults may choose a particular discipline or style within which to work, or elect to choose a broader approach to their art education. While Schaeffer’s background is grounded in drawing and painting, her exposure to printmaking, ceramics, photography, and design provide her students opportunities to work in a variety of directions. Art history is often referenced, and aesthetics and criticism are embedded in training.
