Online Policies - Classes / Workshops
Attendance:
Classes with TraillWorks are most successful the more present you are. Make-ups for Semi-Private and Private Classes:
They can be rescheduled - usually pushed back to the next scheduled class. Or they can be made up on other days / times, depending on teacher / student availability. A 24 hour notice is requested. Make-ups for Small Group Classes: If a class is missed due to a student's own conflict, the only opportunity for a makeup lies in the responsibility of the student in setting it up, and is dependent on space in a class. Private sessions are always available, by paying the balance of a private rate. If space is not available, the class may not be made up. All make-ups must take place within the package time period of the missed lesson or the lesson will be forfeited. (With the exception being if the final class of the paid package is the one missed.) |
Cancellations:
Classes cancelled within 24 hours cannot be rescheduled or refunded. Please notify me in advance if you cannot make an upcoming class. The exception is COVID symptoms or extreme illness - see above for make-ups. If you come down with extreme illness and you can't attend a scheduled workshop, you will have a credit to use with TraillWorks.
Workshops have separate cancellation windows - please see the terms of the individual workshop.

Student Netiquette
Students have the responsibility of showing respect to other students in the online classes. When talking about each other's work - please be considerate and tactful. Please respect people's differences of opinion and their privacy. Please remember lag time, and occasionally internet instability, on online platforms may require extra patience. TraillWorks reserves the right to dismiss any students for hostile, profane, or discriminatory actions / communications.

Refunds:
Due to the intimate nature of lessons through TraillWorks, lessons are generally non-refundable. Sessions must be used within the time frame of the package purchased. When a student enrolls in a group and the group doesn’t have the enrollment to run, a refund will be made. Should you choose to withdraw two weeks or more prior to the start of your class, you will be refunded your tuition, shy of a $50 processing fee and your paid registration. You can expect to receive a refund within 4 weeks of notification.

Additional Info
Sketchbooks:
Are highly encouraged and used. Helpful for keeping notes, gathering ideas, and developing your techniques at home; sketchbook assignments are often given to reinforce lessons learned in the studio. PLUS research shows (from the Harvard Health Blog) 'The "Thinking" Benefits of Doodling.'
Clothing:
Please wear suitable clothing for an art class, i.e. clothing that can get dirty. We may not always get messy, but given the nature of what we are doing, please come prepared. TraillWorks is not responsible for soiled clothing.
Student Artwork: Please ensure you have a safe place to store work in between classes.
Virtual Space Setup: Have a table or desk where you can find focus, with a comfortable seat. Adequate lighting is helpful for Zoom, as well as for working on artwork. It does not need to be natural - could be controlled lighting. Have access to basic art supplies - pencils, erasers, paper.
Technology: It's ideal to take a virtual class with two devices - preferably a smartphone, along with a tablet, laptop or desktop computer. One should always be silenced.
Mindset:
Join with an openness for discovery, with recognition that learning anything new may encounter frustration, and with the faith that you will find growth and many moments of fun and clarity through your creativity and process.
