This work was finished at the beginning of the Thrive Together Network virtual residency in September 2023. From my Take a Seat series - it is the first to upend the chair. I was thinking about being tipped over or hanging by a thread when a person is misaligned or experiencing intense stress, and that through the seat we can find stability and comfort. I’m also very drawn to man made elements in landscapes - like industrial pipes and telephone lines. They both lead your eye in and out, and are a reminder of humanity in the landscape. The landscape in this piece was inspired by the Crooked Creek which runs behind my neighborhood and feeds into the Eno River.
Available at Our House, Faculty/Student Exhibit at Durham Arts Council Nov. 11th - January 5th.
