Classes Begin 6/20 6/20, 6/27, 7/11, 7/18, 8/1, 8/8 Tuesdays, 9:30-11:30am 4 Flex or 6 Consecutive Classes Class size: max 20 students CLASS LOCATION: LOCALES in SOUTH MOUNTAIN RESERVATION Spend part of your summer painting under the canopy of the South Mountain Reservation, breathing in nature and exploring ways of working in watercolor en plein air, or in this case, in the forest. While this isn't true "forest bathing", being in the forest is shown to lower blood pressure and cortisol levels. Making art also provides some of the same benefits. We will explore working at different paces to capture the essence of our environment, on smaller formats, with portable supplies. Weekly destinations will be determined in advance with parking and meeting locations. A supply list and general recommendations for enjoying your time painting in nature will be sent out a few weeks prior to the start of class. TAKING WATERCOLOR & DRAWING FURTHER at Work & Play Classes Begin 6/21 6/21, 6/28, 7/12, 7/19, 8/2, 8/9 Wednesdays, 7:30 - 9:30pm 4 Flex or 6 Consecutive Classes Class size: 3 - 6 students CLASS LOCATION: Work & Play, South Orange, NJ This has been a popular class for over two years. Whether you are a beginner with no art-making experience, or someone who's taken a brake from making, you are welcome. Summer is a great time to explore watercolor and your creativity in a short session. Through the guidance of Jennie’s individualized approach, students will work on independent projects that are focused on drawing or painting or both, based on each student’s interest. Beginner students will be guided through basic painting and drawing processes that include perception, values, contrast, and paint handling, while more advanced students will develop a direction in their work, honing media and exploring composition and subject matter. Students will be encouraged to work at their own pace. $330 / 6 Weeks, consecutive 6/21, 6/28, 7/12, 7/19, 8/2, 8/9 $250 / 4 Weeks, flex (Use when you're available over the summer.
