The Venus flytrap is a carnivorous plant native to the coastal plains of North Carolina. According to the NC Botanical Gardens, where they are working to preserve the species, is only found in a 90 mile radius around Wilmington. I had never seen one in person before visiting the gardens, and as Charles Darwin said, they are “one of the most wonderful plants in the world.” This up close painting, shows off the brilliant colors and features of the two-lobed, hinged plant.
The image is painted on a 2.75" diameter ceramic ornament. Each ARTament hangs with a red satin ribbon and comes in a turquoise gift box with a gift card and label. Each ARTament is signed and titled.
