This original painting is an oil from my Kitchen Gods series. Many ask me what got me started on my series of paintings featuring kitchen appliances, and the answer is always a disagreement my husband and I had upon learning to live together. It was first a conflict over dishes (which we have somewhat resolved only 15 years later). This piece was more influenced by my exposure to religious art while studying abroad in Florence, Italy. I started backing appliances with halos, in effect “sainting” them. This piece was featured in the Jersey section of the New York Times when I exhibited it in a gallery in Asbury Park! My small claim to fame.
