About Jennie

Jennie Traill Schaeffer holds two BFAs in Painting and Art Education (2000) from Syracuse University, where she also studied in Florence, Italy. Born and raised in Easton, PA, she spent two decades building her career in NJ under the umbrella of TraillWorks — running her own gallery, curating over 20 group exhibits and 10 solo shows, making and teaching art — before relocating to Durham, NC.

Recognized in nearly 100 group / juried exhibitions in the northeast, notably Jennie’s work has been shown at The Noyes Museum, Montclair Art Museum, Yellowstone Art Museum, and Peters Valley Craft Center, among others. A Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation recipient for a residency at Peters Valley, she has been published in The New York Times, The Village Voice, NJSavvy Living, JerseyArts.com, and Women in Art 278.

Since moving to North Carolina, Jennie has become connected to artists through Artist Mother, then Thrive Together Network and she has exhibited at the Durham Art Guild, 311 Gallery, Eno Arts Mill, ArtSpace, The Pocket Gallery, and ClearStory Arts in Chattanooga. She is currently a member of the Durham Art Guild and on faculty at the Durham Arts Council.

She creates in the Studio on the 3rd Floor, while loving and finding support in family through her husband, now teenage sons, and rescued dog, Cider.
