Part of my Take a Seat series, depicting chairs in isolation that invite you to sit. This idea of taking a seat is inspired by my meditation practice in which teachers often use that phrase to transition into meditation. Chairs are creating a sense of comfort, in discomfort.
This piece is named for the Traditional Medicinals, Ginger Aid that grounds the womb chair, and also includes a mindfulness quote that reads: "Ask yourself is this situation within my control. If it isn’t the only thing you need to do is let go.” Louise Fitzgerald. Orange tethers, are somewhat supporting the chair over water, growing out of and up in the trees.
