Part of my Take a Seat series, depicting chairs in isolation that invite you to sit. This idea of taking a seat is inspired by my meditation practice in which teachers often use that phrase to transition into meditation. This piece takes the tether chair, and surrealistically hovers it in between two isolated limbs over a body of water in Horton Grove, located in Durham County, NC. The chair, painted in a vibrant green, counters the leafless trees of winter in the background. As I look at it now, the chair, inviting us to sit in this place of hibernation, suggests healing and regrowth, if one just takes the risk to be in this place.
