Part of my new Take a Seat series, depicting chairs in isolation that invite you to sit. This idea of taking a seat is inspired by my meditation practice in which teachers often use that phrase to transition into meditation. This piece is named for the Yogi Stress Relief Tea package that is layered into the watercolor painting. "Stress Relief Seat" features a chair that has followed me through many journeys. I purchased it from a store in Sussex County, NJ, when I ran my gallery. It started out intended as a thinking chair for my studio, but it quickly became a seat for waiting students and gallery visitors. Since then, it has moved into my bedroom. It's still a thinking chair, but more a chair to just sink into, without thoughts. So, maybe it is more of a meditative chair after all.
Currently Available in the Candy Club Collective Virtual Small Works Exhibit. You are welcome to purchase here as well, and I will notify the curator of the sale.
