Shiny Metal Encasements for Bread
Painted after a row of breadboxes, which were actually "Breadside Tables" by woodworker, Steve Butler, were on exhibit at my old gallery and just glimmered in the light. I had to paint them. This piece was done alla prima, with both brushes and palette knives. Oil on 2" cradled panel, unframed and ready to hang. 24" x 16". He's a clever artist / woodworker who also runs a tv show, The Garage, in Massachusetts. His wife is a talented jewelry designer / maker, Liesl Carlson (I own a set of earrings by her which are one of my favorite pairs to wear).
